A big change is happening!

I’m excited to share with you some life-changing news

Long story short: In June, I’ll be joining the J. Cogliandro Photography team! In addition to being the daily Production Manager, I’ll also be an associate photographer for Mr. Cogliandro who is internationally recognized in the industry and an award-winning photographer. This opportunity will allow me to hone my photography skills, work on a team and travel throughout the country. I’m beyond honored that I was asked to join this team and it’s the only reason I would ever consider anything other than Karelle Photography.

The Details

What does this transition mean for all my faithful clients like you? First of all, I’m not closing up the Karelle Photography shop just yet!
I’ll be honoring all the committments that I’ve made for 2013 and 2014, nothing will change there. In order to do this in a way that works for everyone, the process/procedures/etc. will be simplified and uniform for everyone. I must simplify the process in order to keep track of everything and to do the best job that I can for you.
The new policy is that there is only one session fee of $175, no matter what kind of session it is. The session fee is required in order to book the day and time for your session. At that time we will also schedule your in-person ordering session which will take place about 2 weeks after the portrait session. My goal in all this is to continue to serve you while keeping things simple since I’ll be working on my own time for your portrait sessions.
The goal is for me to eventually start up the portrait business under J. Cogliandro Photography and then I’ll be available during more normal hours for your portrait sessions. I’m excited to continue working with you and seeing your children grow.

For the first time ever I’m pulling out all the past files and making them available.

-ALL SESSIONS 2007 through 2013 (including engagement and bridal sessions) are 1/2 off for $600!
-MINI-SESSIONS in 2013 are $300!

A few last thoughts

I want to thank so many of you for giving me the opportunity to document you and your families over the past 6 years. As always, I’m available by email, phone, and in person if you have any questions at all, and I’ll be in my studio until mid-June.

The Woodlands Senior Photography | Oliver

One of the most frequently asked questions is “what is your favorite type of portrait session?” And I have to say that shooting seniors is one of my all time favorite things. Why? Because we can do some more fashion-type photography and I can also put them up in odd places that wouldn’t work with newborns
It’s always awesome when I get senior clients that are guys and that are also game for anything creative or odd that I may come up with. We shot until the sun went down!
It’s exciting to get to know new clients and I always learn something new from each person I meet. Through our conversations I learned about different types of cloth types – they really know what they’re talking about! I finally learned what gangnam and chambray are. Oliver and his mom were great to work with!

The Woodlands | Emi’s bridals

Sometimes it doesn’t work out for me to be able to shoot the wedding but we can definitely schedule to shoot the bride’s bridal portrait. Thankfully Emi’s dress came in early enough that we were able to schedule her portrait session while she was in town. Emi was excited and ready to go when I showed up and it was smooth sailing. Originally we were going to do only an indoor shoot but we ended up also adding an outdoor segment. And I’m so thankful we went outside!

The Woodlands | Figliola family

I always have this small fear in the back of my mind that I’ll show up to a portrait shoot and that for some reason the location is unusable. And that’s what happened with the Figliola family. We showed up to the chosen location and it had been bulldozed! I had to think quick and quickly change our location. Thankfully I had a another location nearby that we could use so we headed over to begin our shoot. This little lady was about to become a big sister so it was their last photo session just the three of them. She’s a spunky little one as most children that age are. Which means a lot of chasing her around. She kept it fun! And by now, she’s a big sister to a baby brother!!

The Woodlands | McCall Family

I love photographing one year olds! It’s one of my favorite things because we get to include a birthday cake as part of the portrait session. Combine that with an adorable little red-headed boy!! Completely adorable, beyond words.
We met up to photograph shots of this cute little family as a group and some interactive moments. We finished up with the cake smash. This can get messy! The messier the better, of course.

Houston Child Photography | Carroll 24 months

I’m so, so sad to say that this may be the last time I get to photography this delight of a child! They are moving away this summer to Georgia which makes it quite a bit difficult to see them often. I’ve photographed her ever 3 months for the past two years and she’s blossomed so much in that time. More than anything I’ve enjoyed the humor and kindness that was always exhibited in this family – it was always so fun to watch and to photograph.
I’ll always especially remember the last shots we did where she looks like the most beautiful angel. I didn’t want to stop clicking! I’ll miss them.

The Woodlands | Mitchell Family

It’s always a challenge to meet the client for the first time at the photo shoot but it was smooth sailing with the Mitchell family! It was a pretty cold day when I met them in Tomball for their portrait session. But they did an amazing job in spite of the cold temperatures and dreary day. And this little lady was happy the whole time – she’s a little trooper! The session had a lot of meaning because dad would then be gone for a while due to work obligations. I’m so glad we were able to get it done in time!

Houston | Jill and James | Engagement Photographer

Jill and James did things just a little bit different….they scheduled their engagement session to take place after their wedding instead of before, as is customary. It gave them time to wait for cooler weather and to pick out great outfits. They also had practice from their portrait session in Galveston after their wedding so they were much more knowledgeable about what to expect at the engagement session. We enjoyed a relaxed evening walking around and letting them be sweet to each other and voila! A great engagement session!

The Woodlands | Adler newborn

Ahhhh newborns…..they’re so sweet and cute. And I just want to pinch their cheeks and stroke their heads. As I’ve said before, newborns are unpredictable. We may have a plan for the portrait session but it may not go as planned. In fact, it almost never does. If they want to stay awake we go with it and change directions. This little lady eventually slept for us and gave us some sweet portraits at the end. Of course I loved that mom wanted to do some natural shots with her sweet little baby. Love it!
Sometimes I work with new clients and I enjoy getting to meet new people. And sometimes I’m forunate to work with friends I know from other aspects of life. I know this dad from my ballroom dance activities and it’s great to be a part of their personal life with sweet little girl.

Downtown Houston | Regina and Simon, Part 3

It’s a photographers dream to be given extra time on a wedding day just for portraits! Regina and Simon and their wedding party met us at the Magnolia Hotel to start a few indoor shots, and then we headed over to Kim Son to finish off with some outdoor portraits. I was beyond thankful for one of the most beautiful days of the year!
