As part of my professional and artistic development, each year I attend the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention in Las Vegas. It’s a huge, huge event with 15,000+ photographers flying in from all over the states and all over the world. We enjoyed several days of speakers, the (huge!) trade show (300+ exhibitors), networking, and the print competition.
I enjoy entering my images in the print competition because it gives me an opportunity to learn and improve as we hear the judges comments during the judging. I find myself entering images mostly in the photojournalism category (wedding and non-wedding) and engagements, as well as some other random ones. This year I had one image receive Accolades of Excellence in the Wedding Photojournalism category and it hung in the WPPI exhibit while we were in Las Vegas and I’m very proud to show it here now:
This image was taken during the formals in Estes Park, Colorado during Amy and David’s outdoor wedding. This little flowergirl DID NOT want the ringbearer to touch her. The title is “Boys are Icky.”
If you’re wanting to check out the awards from the past 3 years, you can see them on the website.
